Given that he was born and brought up in Canada, he is widely identified as a Canadian author, although most of his later work was published while he was living in England. He is best known today for his fiction, especially for The African Millionaire. His friend Conan Doyle completed Hilda Wade. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.
