[Book #1238] The Crowborough Edition. ARTHUR CONAN DOYLE.

The Crowborough Edition

Garden City: Doubleday, Doran, 1930. First Edition. Twenty-four volumes. Original cloth and boards with paper spine labels. One of 750 numbered sets signed by Doyle. Very good. Gibson and Green A61. Compiled and published at the end of his life, Doyle was unable to provide revisions and prefaces as he intended, coming as it did as the author neared his end. Given his long, varied career and the breadth of his interests (history, crime, spiritualism, politics, current events, etc.) and writings, this set is not comprehensive, but far moreso than the decades earlier Author’s Edition. It reissues not only his major works, but many minor ones as well. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.
