New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1934. First Edition. As usual, the cloth is mottled, although a little less than usual; bookplate; very good to fine in a price-clipped red jacket with blurbs. There are four variants: in red and green and with and without blurbs. The usual wisdom suggests that jackets lacking blurbs precede those which feature them. In this case, however, the novel was printed a month earlier in a magazine, so that these promotional snippets were already available when this book was issued. This copy has a scraped Book-of-the Month Club sticker on the front panel, the presence or lack of it appearing to be of no signifcance. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.
