Boston: Little, Brown, 1951. First Edition. Nearly fine in dust jacket. Presentation copy; inscribed by the author to one of the original cast members, “ For Lois [Holmes], With good wishes, Lillian, May, 1951.” The cast has signed as well, including Jane Wyatt, Fredric March and his wife Florence Eldridge. Holmes had provided some notes on her dialogue as well as a couple of dozen photographs, including one of her with Julie Harris in The Lark. While not credited in print, Hammett is said to have contributed to this play, earning a modest royalty. All books described as first editions are first printings unless otherwise noted.
