A Scrapbook Pertaining Mainly to Street Lighting in Boston

1870-1875; mostly concerning electric ignition of gas street lights, with a number of pasted in pieces, including a four page prospectus for the New England Electric Gas Lighting Company; a four page statement by the same firm; a one leaf promotion of “Gardiner’s Patent for Lighting and Turning On and Off Gas by Electricity” (corner damaged); a twelve page pamphlet “Applications of Electricity” published by the National Electric Gas-Lighting Company (lacking back wrapper); broadside advertising “Robinson’s Brilliant Street Illuminator”; numerous newspaper clippings; a stock certificate for a roofing company and some extraneous clippings and a pencil manuscript map of plots in Brookline. The scrapbook is shabby, but, for the most part, the contents are in good condition, but with some glue marks.
