New York: C.H. Webb, 1867. First Edition; first printing of Twain’s first book. This copy is in the publisher’s original blue cloth, very possibly the least common of the various binding colors that the book was issued in. A handsome copy that has had some cloth repair (but not apparently entirely rebacked); hinges strengthened; still an attractive copy, in a custom slipcase. As a first book this was a running start - the title story is among the best-known American short stories, a notable example of American humor.
