Original Corrected Typescript of Brigadier Gerard: a military drama in four Acts

This play was produced in London in 1906, and is apparently unpublished. Consisting of the following: Act I; 26 pages plus title page and a list of “Dramatis Personae;” with many ink and pencil corrections in the author’s hand; plain wrappers, ribbon-bound. Act II; 22 pages plus title page; corrected and amended by the author in ink and pencil; the verso of two leaves have long pencil additions by Doyle; plain wrappers, ribbon-bound, with A.P. Watt’s agency label. Act III; 22 pages plus title leaf; without the author’s corrections; plain wrappers, ribbon-bound, with A.P. Watt’s agency label. Act IV, Scenes I and II; 27 pages plus title page; the original page 18 has been excised, replaced by four unpaginated leaves; Doyle has added many lines in pencil on the verso of two pages; plain wrappers, ribbon-bound, with Watt’s agency label. Act IV, Scenes I and II; a clean, typed copy in plain wrappers, ribbon-bound. [With] the souvenir book with scenes from the 1915 film version and a paperbound Newnes edition of the Adventures of Gerard. Of impeccable provenance, this lot was in the 2004 sale of the author’s archive.
