One Page Typed Letter, Signed

On New Yorker letterhead, 13 April 1957, Perelman writes George Seldes on the upcoming publication of the collection The Road to Miltown, “...I wish that time would allow me to do a short piece...but I’m honestly sewed into a spot...No doubt if I were a [next two words crossed out in pencil and the word tummler added in the margin] glandular case like Bennett Cerf...one more chore wouldn’t make the slightest bit of difference...This lengthy explanation of why I can’t write a short piece reminds me of a conversation lasting 55 minutes I once had with one of the great silent film stars, Jetta Goudal, wherin she told me over the phone why she couldn’t meet me for an interview...” Signed “Sid” in ink.
