A fine, professional formal photograph by Floyd Hopkins of the author, in the early 1950s, surrounded by books and with his Oscar statuette (won for the 1943 screenplay Mrs. Miniver). The author has inscribed it in a cramped light area at his desk, “For Anne Whitfield, a year with actresses. With admiration, James Hilton.” Whitfield’s movie career began in 1950; Hilton died in 1954. 10 x 13”, framed and glazed, overall approximately 15 x 20”. In excellent condition.
