New York: Putnam’s, 1927. First Edition. Quarto. Bound in full publisher’s leather, extremities a bit worn, outer joints weak, else a fine copy. Each of the 49 poems is illustrated with a full-page etching of cowboy life, signed by the artist. While some of the poetry is dialect-heavy, it is appropriately romantic and sentimental, as are the highly accomplished etchings. Even if these drawings are not quite up to the standard of the best of Remington, Russell or Borein, for the most part they’re still charming and evocative.
