Boston: Ticknor, Reed and Fields, 1850. First Edition. BAL 8757; first printing, state A; binding A. Publisher’s boards; spine perished, and while the boards are in very good condition, the book needs to be resewn and rebacked; a short 1887 holograph letter signed by Holmes is tipped in.

This copy doesn’t appear to conform to any of those; in “S” purple cloth, without stamping. Presentation copy, but the top of the front free endpaper.....
Boston: Carter, Hendee, 1833. First Edition. BAL 8723. Holmes contributed 17 poems which form the second part of the volume. Neither his name nor that of the two other contributors appears in the book. Publisher’s cloth; top of spine chipped; some other wear; paper spine label worn; very good.

Some foxing; paper spine title label slightly chipped; overall a very good copy of Holmes’s first book.....
